Shirodhara
Shirodhara is a deeply relaxing therapy where warm herbal oil is poured in a continuous stream on the forehead to calm the mind and nervous system.

About Shirodhara
Shirodhara is one of the most profound and unique therapies in Ayurveda. The Sanskrit word 'Shirodhara' is derived from 'Shiro' meaning 'head' and 'Dhara' meaning 'flow'. This therapy involves the gentle pouring of warm herbal oil, milk, buttermilk, or decoctions in a continuous stream on the forehead, specifically on the 'third eye' area where calm and higher consciousness is believed to be accessed.
This treatment induces a deep state of relaxation, helps calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and improve mental clarity. It's particularly effective for conditions related to the nervous system and mind-body imbalances.
Treatment Process
Consultation
Our Ayurvedic physician will assess your constitution and current imbalances to determine the appropriate oils and techniques for your treatment.
Preparation
You'll lie comfortably on a treatment table, and a gentle head massage may be performed to prepare for the treatment.
Oil Selection
Specific oils are selected based on your constitution and condition, typically sesame, coconut, or brahmi oils.
Dhara Setup
A special vessel (dhara pot) is set up above your forehead to create a continuous stream of warm oil.
Oil Flow
Warm oil is poured in a continuous stream onto your forehead for 30-45 minutes, inducing a meditative state.
Completion
The treatment concludes with a gentle scalp massage to help the oil penetrate, followed by wiping off excess oil.
